Newborns...What are They?!

We are officially graduated out of Newborn sizes.  Natalia has grown so much that the NB sizes are making her twist and squirm in uncomfortable tightness.  Time to move into the long legged, winter PJ like outfits awaiting her in the second drawer.
Wow!

First Outing

Today was our first outing to take Natalia out to the grocery store.  We intended to take her shopping in the sling, but she fell asleep so nicely and peacefully in the car seat, we became one of those shoppers with a baby perched on the cart.  I don't know how those shoppers have always seemed so calm.  The contraption sure didn't see secure to either me or Noah  We are going sling, next time.
Nonetheless, we stood like deer in headlights and steered that cart super slow.  By checkout time, everyone was feeling fine and Natalia was still sleeping.
Home afe with a fridge full of grub for the week.

Oma Sings Schlaf

We missed Opa, but we got to have half of the goodness arrive for the night- OMA!  Natalia loved every second of it, and her mother (me, phew) loved being together.  We were able to get me to the store to return Newborn clothing that already is a bit of the wee side, then to hang out on the couch and watch Oma/Mom sing German lullabies Natalia- which made her grin at every word "Schlaf" was sung.  Whenever Oma would say "schlaf", Natalia would crack up with a big grin.  Mom did too.  Then me and Noah also.
This morning we went to the pediatrician and found ourselves in an adventure.
Mom and I don't know how to work the car seat so well.  We got it in fine, but got stuck in the ar not knowing how to get her out of the car seat.  So... Mom blindly raced to the doctor to tell them we were here, but couldn't get Natalia out of the car, because we couldn't figure out the car seat !  So, in desperation, I went to the accupuncturist in front of our parking spot, and he and I worked it in the car saying, "When we figure this out, we will laugh, because you know it is some simple lever!"  Sure enough, pull on the big hinge looking thing on the back and it will  unlock the car seat.    I felt like a bafoon, but loved feeling new to this mothering.
After Natalia's release for the Honda Big Guy, we were able to find Oma wandering aimlessly in an alley.  She got to the office of the doctor, but found some strange way out of the building and found herself in the back alley by shipping and receiving.  Hilarious!
As Oma said, "Today it was the blind leading the blind!"
Everyone is good, baby is healthy, and Mom is on her way home without the snowstorm blowing- phew!  I finally am enjoying a lunch while Natalia sleeps the events of the day away.

Palendromes

Cousin Greg said it best, "Welcome, Natalia, I  think Palendrome would make a good name for a boy or a girl!"All my life, palenromes have followed me on big days or events.  Not all of them, but many of them.Graduation years, locker numbers, college room numbers, birthdays- the list goes on.  This year, there were 2 palendroms that rocked both my, Noah's and our family's worlds.  They were Natalia's numbers.Born on 1-12-11- forwards and backwards all day and every minute of that day.We fell in love instantly with those slate grey eyes, chompin cheeks, and good health.  She is a very brave little baby who does't een know how brave she is.  Her story has already started and although it is bigger than some baby's stories, she is lucky that is all big in LOVE.  Natalia has love from many people, places, and experiences.  We couldn't be more excited for her.
So here are the stats:
Her name is Natalia Alidea
She is a girl
She is just the perfect size and weight
She has a head full of hair
She is a happy baby
She is a daughter
She is a happy grandkid, niece, and cousin
